- On Tuesday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired the 26th Central Zonal Council meeting in Bastar, Chhattisgarh, asserting that development efforts in erstwhile Naxal-affected areas will continue until they reach national development standards.
- Zonal Council meetings increased to 32 between 2014 and 2026 from only 11 held during 2004-2014, reflecting enhanced governance efficiency and collaborative focus on regional issues.
- Shah directed states to implement the "Naveen Nyaya Sanhita of the criminal justice system" and set a target to "dispose of every criminal case" within three years, before 2029.
- To boost rural access, Shah directed states to ensure banking facilities within a five-kilometre radius for Direct Benefit Transfer schemes and prioritize Jal Jeevan Mission-2 for household tap water.
- Chhattisgarh, connecting nearly seven states, holds immense strategic importance for the Central Zone, with Shah confirming that "no disputes remain" among the four member states or between them and the Centre.
