Alaska Legislature Bans Plastic Foam Foodware in Restaurants and Across the State Government
Yesterday evening, Alaska’s State House passed House Bill 25 (HB 25), a landmark measure that prohibits Alaska’s government and restaurants from using single-use polystyrene foodware beginning January 1, 2027. The bill, which was sponsored by Rep. Andy Josephson and was supported across party lines, passed the State Senate on May 18, 2026, and now it heads to Gov. Mike Dunleavy’s desk.
