A Walk Around the "Wood that Built London" | History News Network

Summary by Ground News
The North Wood or Norwood once covered a seven-mile stretch of what is now suburbia, cresting a range of hills that formed the Kent-Surrey border. A large part of it lay in the northern reaches of the manor of Croydon, known as the North Wood. The earliest I was able to find is a terrier (from the French registre terrier, or land register) conducted in 1492.
