A lesser-known Farmers' Almanac will fold after 2 centuries, citing money trouble
- Farmers' Almanac announced Thursday that the 2026 edition will be its last, ending a run that began in 1818.
- The editors said, `It is with a great appreciation and heartfelt emotions that we write to share some sad news. After more than 200 years of sharing a unique blend of weather, wit and wisdom, we’ve made the very difficult decision to write the final chapter of this historical publication,` the Farmers' Almanac wrote, citing growing financial challenges in today’s `chaotic media environment`.
- In 2017 the Almanac reported a circulation of 2.1 million in North America, using a secret forecast formula based on sunspots, planetary positions and lunar cycles.
- The closure affects farmers, gardeners and longtime readers of the 208-year-old guide, while the Old Farmer's Almanac said it `isn’t going anywhere` and will continue publishing at Almanac.com.
- Copies are still available on Amazon and the Almanac website, which will remain accessible until December 2025, while online access will cease next month.
