Taipei, Nov. 12 (CNA) Fifty-one people were injured and more than 8,000 residents evacuated nationwide as Tropical Storm Fung-Wong slammed Taiwan, with Yilan County in the northeast hit hardest, the Central Emergency Operation Center (CEOC) said Wednesday.
Typhoon Fung-hwang's outer circulation brought torrential rains, causing severe flooding in Su'ao, Dongshan, and Wujie counties of Yilan County, with some homes damaged by landslides. On the 13th, KMT legislators Wu Tsung-hsien and Huang Chien-pin called on the central government to promptly propose disaster relief measures for Yilan, ensuring that its residents receive fair compensation and reconstruction resources.
